About Paul-Growing up

Hi Everyone, welcome to my Website whatyouneedishere.com. Every since I was young, I have always wanted to have nice things, nice house, nice garden and nice clothes to wear, but my family NEVER had the money to pay for any of these.

A LITTLE STORY ABOUT MY LIFE GROWING UP

As I was growing up in the late 50’s-70’s, I lost my Father when i was 4 years old and I lived in an area of Nottingham at the time it was classed as the Slums. (These are actual pictures of the houses and back yard area on our street).Slums meaning (a squalid and overcrowded urban street or district inhabited by very poor people). Also defined by the age and class of the house and the way the housing was built in those days.

Houses were locked together in rows of 10-12 (sometimes more with an entry in the middle of the block to the back yard of all the houses), all without inside bathrooms (Tin bath in front of the fire) no inside toilets or running hot water (geyser), toilets were at the end of a concrete yard in a brick building (As the picture shows) hence the term brick s…house. Eventually these houses were going to be pulled down and make way for new style houses. (Slums of today are totally different to the slums of the 60’s).

Don’t get me wrong this was a great place to live and grow up, people were great. You could go out and leave your door open and no one would break in to your home (Not like to-day). Having no TV, no internet, no Nintendo, no cell phones, no play station and no designer items. We made do by playing conkers, playing marbles, playing soccer, getting roller skates and putting a book on it, sitting on it and finding the steepest hill and flying down it (not many knuckles left at the end). Although you did not have a lot of money, people were happy and very friendly. Everyone treated everyone with the respect they deserve.

I would NEVER CHANGE my childhood as it was a Hugh learning about growing up and leaning about life on the street. It actually made me the person i am today. I don’t have a criminal record, never been in trouble with the police (Only scrumping) I have never smoked or drink alcohol (only because I do not like it).

So I want to help people have what we could not have. So I created this website to have affordable items to buy and build your dream home.
